Custom & Fine Jewellery Saint John
Fine jewellery built to last on hands that work: engagement rings, wedding bands, necklaces, earrings, and bespoke commissions handcrafted in our Edmonton workshop and delivered fully insured to Saint John. Forty-five years of Canadian goldsmithing, with custom builds completed in 7 to 10 days.
Fine Jewellery for a City Built by Hands That Work
From Our Edmonton Bench to Your Door
Saint John was built by people who worked with their hands. The brick warehouses of the Uptown, the granite walls of the Loyalist Burial Ground, the dry docks at the head of the harbour, and the Reversing Falls where the Saint John River meets the Bay of Fundy twice a day. None of it came from a catalogue. It was cut, fitted, riveted, and finished by makers, and a great deal of it is still standing two centuries later because those makers respected structure.
A well-made ring is not a different category of object. The principles are the same: proper proportion, honest material, joins that hold under daily stress, a finish that comes from time at the bench. Every piece is handcrafted in our Edmonton workshop and delivered fully insured to Saint John, Rothesay, Quispamsis, Hampton, Grand Bay-Westfield, and across the Fundy region.

Engagement Rings
Classical Solitaires & Rings Built to Outlast Trends
A proposal in Saint John often happens at a kitchen table, on a walk along the harbour at low tide, or at the lookout above the Reversing Falls. The ring that answers that moment is rarely fashion-driven. Our Saint John clients lean toward classical solitaires, six-prong settings, three-stone designs, and traditional halos that will still look right thirty years from now.
We craft engagement rings to hold their shape and their setting through the realities of daily wear. Available in 14k and 18k yellow, white, and rose gold, with natural or lab-grown diamonds. Heirloom redesigns and stones passed down through family are welcomed.

Women's Wedding Bands
Bands Built to Stay True for a Lifetime
A wedding band is the piece of jewellery that gets the hardest wear. It sits through dishwashing, gardening, hospital shifts, decades of daily routine. Our Saint John clients ask for bands that hold up: comfortable inner profiles, secure stone settings, and finishes that age well rather than wear thin.
Choose from plain polished bands, pavé eternity, milgrain detailing, and contoured profiles fitted to your existing engagement ring. Available in 14k and 18k yellow, white, and rose gold. Bands can also be rebuilt or resized over the years as needed, free of charge for clients who purchased with us.

Men's Wedding Bands
Comfortable, Tough & Built for Working Hands
Saint John is a working city. Our men's wedding band clients include shipyard tradesmen, refinery technicians, fishermen, contractors, and office workers alike, and every band has to hold up to whatever the day asks of it. We craft comfort-fit profiles in 10k, 14k, and 18k gold, platinum, and tougher alternative metals like tantalum and titanium that resist scratching and dents.
Common preferences include satin or brushed finishes that hide everyday wear, hammered textures for character, and inside-band engraving for personal touches. We can also rebuild or refinish bands as they wear over the years.

Diamond Earrings
A Gift That Holds Its Meaning
Diamond earrings are one of the most-requested anniversary, birthday, and milestone gifts our Saint John clients commission. A pair of classic four-prong studs reads as quietly elegant in any setting, from a morning coffee at Java Moose to an evening at the Imperial Theatre. We craft studs from 0.20 to 2.00 carats total weight, double-row hoops, and elegant drop designs.
All earrings are crafted in 14k and 18k white or yellow gold, with platinum settings available. Most pairs are ready for immediate insured shipping to Saint John. Custom commissions are typically completed within 7 to 10 days.

Necklaces & Pendants
Pendants That Carry Meaning
Some of the most meaningful pieces we make in our workshop are pendants commissioned by Saint John families: a daughter's initials hand-engraved on the back, a grandmother's diamond reset into a teardrop pendant, a meaningful date engraved in Roman numerals. These are the pieces that get worn every day and eventually passed down to the next generation.
Available in 14k and 18k gold, with diamond accents, coloured gemstone settings, or solid metal designs. Engraving on the back is included on every custom pendant. Chains in matching weights are pairing-fitted at our bench.

Diamond Necklaces
Classic Solitaire Pendants & Tennis Necklaces
A classic diamond solitaire pendant on a fine gold chain has been the most-gifted piece in our Saint John deliveries for decades. It is the kind of necklace that pairs with a Sunday church outfit and an evening at the Saint John Arts Centre with equal ease. Tennis necklaces, graduated diamond pendants, and bezel-set drops are commonly requested as milestone gifts.
Each piece is hand-set at our Edmonton bench, balanced for how it sits on the collarbone, and available with natural or lab-grown diamonds in your choice of carat weight, colour grade, and clarity.

Gemstone Rings
Birthstones & Family Heritage Rings
Coloured gemstone rings are most often commissioned in Saint John as family pieces: a birthstone ring with one stone for each child, an anniversary sapphire matching the bride's eyes, an emerald passed down from a grandmother set into a contemporary band. We work with sapphires, emeralds, rubies, aquamarines, amethysts, and citrines, including stones you already own or have inherited.
Settings range from classical solitaires and three-stone designs to bezel-set bands and multi-stone family clusters. We can also help source a specific stone to your colour, cut, and origin preferences.

Women's Diamond & Fashion Rings
Anniversary, Milestone & Right-Hand Rings
Anniversary rings are the most-commissioned fashion piece in our Saint John deliveries. A five-stone diamond band marking ten years. A graduated eternity ring marking twenty-five. A sapphire and diamond cocktail ring as a self-purchase to mark a personal milestone. These are pieces that hold their meaning across decades.
Our fashion ring collection covers classical and contemporary designs in 14k and 18k gold, with natural or lab-grown stones. Custom builds for specific milestones, with personal engravings inside the band, are part of our regular workshop output.

Men's Gold & Silver Rings
Traditional Signets, Family Crests & Maritime Heritage
Men's rings in Saint John lean traditional. A solid yellow gold signet engraved with a family crest. A heavy sterling silver band passed down through three generations and reset in a new size. A class ring from UNB Saint John or NBCC kept in rotation alongside a wedding band. We craft these pieces to your hand profile and weight preference, with hand-engraving available in classical scripts or family arms.
For clients who want something more distinctive, we work in inlay materials including koa wood, deer antler, and meteorite. Every piece is built to hold up to daily wear and finished in our workshop.

Men's Pendants
Substantial Chains & Classical Pendants
Saint John men's pendant clients tend to favour solid, substantial pieces: a heavy figaro or curb chain in sterling silver or 10k gold, a classical Latin cross on a chain weighing 20 grams or more, a Saint Christopher medal, or a small dog tag with personal coordinates engraved on the back. These are pieces meant to be worn every day and to last decades.
Custom commissions are common, including family medallions, religious symbols, and pendants designed around a stone you already own. Engraving on the back included on every custom piece.

Crosses
Latin, Celtic & Maritime Catholic Traditions
Saint John holds one of the oldest and deepest Catholic communities in Atlantic Canada, alongside Anglican, Presbyterian, and Baptist traditions that have shaped the city since its founding. We craft crosses across these traditions: Latin crosses in 10k, 14k, and 18k gold, Celtic crosses honouring Irish and Scottish heritage, traditional crucifixes with detailed corpus work, and Anglican crosses in clean classical proportions.
First Communion crosses, confirmation gifts, and family commissions are regular workshop projects. Each piece is made to order in your choice of metal, finish, and chain pairing. Personal engraving included on the back.

Religious Symbols
Christian, Islamic, Judaism & Custom Designs
Saint John's religious community is anchored by deep Christian roots, with Catholic and Anglican traditions running back to the city's founding, alongside growing Islamic, Jewish, and other faith communities. Our religious jewellery collection serves all of them: Latin and Celtic crosses, traditional crucifixes, Islamic calligraphy pendants such as Allah and Ayat al-Kursi, Star of David and Hamsa hand designs, and custom religious commissions.
Each piece is respectfully handcrafted with attention to traditional form, proportion, and the sacred symbolism it carries. Custom calligraphy and engraving available in Arabic, Hebrew, Latin, and other scripts. Confirmation, First Communion, and family heritage commissions welcomed.

Custom Jewellery, Shaped Around Your Idea
Built From Your Sketch, Stone or Idea
If a piece in our collection is close to what you imagine but not exactly right, or if you are starting from a sketch, a family stone, or a single sentence, we build it. Custom design is how the workshop runs every day. It is not an upcharged service.
Our process is straightforward. We start with a conversation, move to CAD design, send you renderings for approval, and only begin bench work once you have signed off on the final design.

From Sketch to Finished Piece in 7 to 10 Days
Because every step happens in our own workshop, standard custom designs are completed in 7 to 10 days, not the six to eight weeks typical of boutique retailers. Complex pieces or commissions involving custom-cut or specially sourced stones are quoted with their own timeline at the start of the consultation.
The Same Price, Ready-Made or Custom
Our pricing is identical whether you choose a finished piece from this collection or commission a custom design. There is no premium for the privilege of designing your own piece. The cost reflects the metal, the stone, and the hours at the bench. Nothing else.
A Canadian Workshop, in Continuous Operation Since 1980
Forty-Five Years at the Same Bench
Design Jewellers opened in 1980 as the first jewellery store at West Edmonton Mall, and we have been making jewellery by hand, in the same room, ever since. More than forty-five years at the same bench, by an evolving small team of goldsmiths.
CAD, casting, hand finishing, stone setting, and final polish all happen under one roof. Nothing is outsourced, and every piece passes a strict internal review before it leaves the workshop.

Every step happens under our roof:
- CAD design and wax carving: initial design files, prototyping, and approval renderings before any metal is touched.
- Casting and metalwork: in-house casting in 18k gold, 14k gold, platinum, and sterling silver.
- Stone setting: prong, bezel, channel, pavé, halo, and tension settings, all set by hand at our bench.
- Hand finishing and polishing: brushed, satin, hammered, and mirror finishes, applied by the same goldsmith who shaped the piece.
- Multi-stage quality review: every piece is inspected for metal integrity, prong security, symmetry, and finish before it is approved to ship.
