The Details
Saint John was built by people who worked with their hands. The brick warehouses of the Uptown, the granite walls of the Loyalist Burial Ground, the dry docks at the head of the harbour, the Reversing Falls where the Saint John River meets the Bay of Fundy twice a day. None of it came from a catalogue. It was cut, fitted, riveted, and finished by makers, and a great deal of it is still standing two centuries later because those makers respected structure.
A well-made engagement ring is not a different category of object. It is small, and it carries diamonds rather than tonnage, but the principles are the same. Proper proportion. Honest material. Joins that hold under daily stress. A finish that comes from time at the bench, not from shortcuts.
Every ring in this collection is made by hand in our Edmonton workshop. We have been making jewellery there continuously since 1980, more than forty-five years of daily bench practice, and we still do every step of the work ourselves. CAD design, wax carving, casting, hand finishing, stone setting, engraving, and final polish all happen under one roof, by the same small team of goldsmiths. Nothing is outsourced. Nothing is white-labelled. Nothing leaves the workshop until it passes a strict, multi-stage internal review for metal integrity, prong security, symmetry, and finish.
Our design language is intentionally restrained. Clean proportions, classical settings, stones chosen for cut and life rather than carat-weight theatre. Restraint is what makes a ring hold up. Trend-heavy pieces tend to look dated within a decade. Quietly proportioned ones tend to look right in any era.
